We Love

What else is love but understanding and rejoicing in the fact that another person lives, acts, and experiences otherwise than we do…?

- Excerpt From: Human, All Too Human. Aphorism 75 “Love and Duality”, by Friedrich Nietzsche

Oskorei - Website

The following interview was conducted by Weblog Oskorei.

When and how was Casapound born?

Officially, Casapound was born on December 26th, 2003 with the occupation of a building Via Napoleone III in Rome. This occupation was performed by a group of visionary heretics linked together by the same vision of the world. In 2008, on the day of the solstice, Casapound Italia was born. It’s a web, throughout Italy, of bookstores, gyms, pubs, men and women not easily understood in a world of blinkered thinking.

What inspired the creation of Casapound?

For the challenges that come from struggle, the weight of experiences, the fascination of adventure, the priority given to social justice. All of this inspired the birth and rise of our community.

1- How was Zentropa born and who are you?

Zentropa was born from friendship and common political will. We are a community of comrades that try to fight the cultural, spiritual and moral desertification caused by modernity.

2- What are Zentropa’s goals?

There are many… First of all we aim at creating a physical community, alive and interdependent. A community of which each member is united by the ideal and their friendship. We also want to puzzle and create doubt in people’s minds. We want them to question their way of life, their future, push them to refuse materialism and initiate an intellectual and political revolt.

3- The most common critic made to the ‘Third Way’ is its anachronism, like other alternative ideologies. These anachronisms can be found in the symbols, methods and the political discourse. How can this attitude of looking backwards and the status quo be put to a stop without loosing the main focus?

Looking at the modern world, how can one condemn all types of nostalgia? Nostalgia is also the vivid and painful memory of everything which has been destroyed by the modern madness. The real issue posed by this nostalgic attitude is that it shouldn’t become an end in itself. The past should not be transformed into a dream of long gone and fantasized golden era or in a folkloric faithfulness to a time which was only an interlude in our long memory. On the other hand, nostalgia can be a fuel for fighting and building on! We’re not going backwards, this is a certainty, but we can dip the resources as well as paradigms in the past to build a future faithful to our ancestral identity and adapted to the modern world’s challenges.

4- Zentropa seems to be willing to compensate the fact people read less and less with a great sense of aesthetic and simple visual messages. Can you tell me more about it?

Let’s be clear, nothing can replace reading when you speak about culture or training militants. Articles and (even more) books are key for structuring the mind and for understanding of our world.

Unfortunately reading practices are lower and lower and we have to work around this.

We have to find ways for our message to be understood and to encourage people to seek deeper answers though reading. For us, image and sound aesthetics are ways to catch our readers’ interest and to push them to look further.

Evening Of Support For The Karen People

On January 19th, with the support of Project Apache, the Zentropa community organised an event to raise awareness about the cause of The Karen resistance. Around 40 people gathered along with 2 special guests: Franco Nerozzi, president of the humanitarian group Popoli, and journalist Gabriele Adinolfi. After showing a film introducing the situation of The Karen people and the actions pursued by Popoli towards these persecuted people, the speakers stressed the exemplary nature of this identitarian struggle.

Far from being an “exotic” cause, aid for The Karen people is a natural extension of anti-globalization and pro identity commitments. It is as much the occidental multinational corporations as it is the Burmese army, that starves and slaughters The Karen. The cause represents an obstacle for international finance. It represents a people who dare to stand against mercantile globalisation, while continuing to live according to their own values and laws.

Franco Nerozzi who travels to the Karen territory with members of his association twice a year, reminded everyone of the ethical strength of the Karen freedom fighters who refuse resorting to drug trafficking in order to finance their guerrilla warfare.

He then presented the future projects of his association, which consists of creating on-site agricultural villages which will enable The Karen to achieve autonomy and self-sufficiency. This ambitious project can only be realised thanks to the generosity of all those who are sensitive to the need of defending the plurality of the world, as well as the honour, of those people in struggle.

In conclusion, Gabriele Adinolfi talked ironically about all the major detractors of globalisation, who are incapable of investing themselves towards people in utter destitution and near-total isolation, who’ve been in armed struggle for years .

Following the presentations, thanks to the generosity of the participants, 770 Euros had been collected and given to Popoli.

After kind salutations the participants left, keeping in mind that this event is not the last, but on the contrary, the beginning of more action in support of the courageous Karen people.
